Eyelid Surgery Blepharoplasty
EyeLid Surgery– Blepharoplasty and Asian Eyelid Surgery in San Jose and Morgan Hill
Eyelid surgery, or blepharoplasty, is very popular among Dr. Sastry’s San Jose and Morgan Hill patients. In fact, eyelid surgery has become the second most common type of plastic surgery performed in the United States, after liposuction. Dr. Sastry is pleased to offer his patients a full range of cosmetic and medical blepharoplasty, including Asian eyelid surgery, at both the San Jose and Morgan Hill locations of the Center for Eye Care & Cosmetic Surgery.

Dr. Ragh Sastry uses eyelid surgery, or blepharoplasty, to alter the appearance of Morgan Hill and San Jose patients’ eyes. He achieves this by removing excess upper lid skin and reducing or eliminating bags under the eyes. Some patients have hollowness under their eye and need fat repositioning or tiny fat injections to give more fullness to the eyelids.
Eyelid surgery can be combined with other procedures such as brow lift, mid face/cheek lift and laser skin resurfacing.
Asian Eyelid Surgery
A special type of cosmetic blepharoplasty is Asian eyelid surgery. San Jose surgeon Ragh Sastry offers Asian eyelid surgery to his Asian American patients who lack a natural crease in their upper eyelid and who would like to achieve a natural looking, alert appearance.
Asian eyelid surgery, also called double eyelid surgery, provides this more alert appearance by creating a crease in the upper eyelid to form what is known as a “double eyelid.” Less common among Asians than among those of non-Asian origin, the double eyelid is often sought after because it provides a youthful, attentive appearance.
If you are considering Asian eyelid surgery at the San Jose Center for Eye Care & Cosmetic Surgery, it is important that you understand the possible psychological effects of changing the shape of your eyes. You may be faced with family members and friends who feel that doing so is denying your Asian heritage. You may need to explain to them your reasons for undergoing eyelid surgery, and help them to see that you are choosing surgery as a way to enhance your appearance and increase your self-confidence.

Eyelid Surgery Blepharoplasty for Medical Needs
As an ophthalmic plastic surgeon, Dr. Sastry also performs eyelid surgery for medical reasons as well as cosmetic ones. He can use eyelid surgery blepharoplasty to lift droopy eyelids that obscure vision, to remove skin cancer and other lumps on the lids and to correct eyelids that turn in or turn out (ectropion/entropion). Dr. Sastry can safely perform most blepharoplasty surgeries in the office surgical suite. Through the use of advanced anesthetic techniques and the use of radio frequency technology, he achieves superb results with fast recovery (usually within a week). In his hands eyelid surgery is painless and most patients only need Tylenol for postoperative discomfort. As with all forms of surgery, there are some risks associated with eyelid surgery, including dry eye, infections, and asymmetry of the eyelids. These risks are rare, and will be discussed with you during your consultation.
